The 2022 PBA season is here and they kicked it off the best way I could have imagined, talking about the PBA LEAGUE. During the keepers show, three things really stood out to me…
- Notable cuts – Since managers can only keep three players of the 5 on their roster, sometimes difficult choices have to be made. But I was not expecting Chris Barnes and Rhino Page to be a part of the draft pool. Barnes is a Hall of Famer and Rhino should be at some point, so losing them may come back to bite the teams that let them go…
- Back to 10 teams – Unfortunately the Miami Waves and the Phoenix Fury will not be a part of the league this year. The all PWBA teams were an addition to last years competition and were super fun to watch but that is no more. Thankfully, at least the 10 players rostered last year on these teams will be eligible to be drafted this year to offset the hit of losing the teams.
- Great Rebrands – 4 teams have changed at least their appearance, three of which are now prominently featuring sponsors right in their logos. Bowlers have long been begging for more sponsor money, and this is a great way to liven up the appearance of the PBA league as well as show potential new sponsors how dedicated they are to pushing their brands to the PBA audience.
The PBA League has been one of my favorite events since its inception. I couldn’t be more excited to see how they continue to push this unique and attractive event throughout the season and ultimately capitalize on that work.
